CLAIMS PROCESSING

Medical Claims Examiner
Work specifics include but are not limited to:
- Process medical claims in accordance with contract provisions, using established policies and procedures up to a designated payment authority level.
- Analyzing and researching the claims to determine correct payment, pending or denial determination is included in the process.
- Also included are verifying eligibility, assigning claim numbers, applying appropriate coding, etc.
- Attempt to obtain missing or incomplete information to pay a claim by contacting providers of service, suppliers, etc. Outreach may be over the phone or in writing.
- Refer claims when needed to appropriate positions within the Service Center according to claims referral policies.
- Review and understand all claims reference materials, and review and understand updates made to reference materials available in paper and/or electronic formats.
Medical Claims Processor
Work specifics include but are not limited to:
- Coding and processing claim forms
- Reviewing claims for complete information
- Correcting and completing forms as needed
- Accessing information and translating data into acceptable claims processing requirements

MEDICAL BILLING
Medical Billers
Consultant medical billers being recruited by WOW Global are responsible for submitting patient claims to insurance companies for coverage, or for billing patients who are uninsured for services they have received from a physician or other health care provider. Electronic billing programs are greatly simplifying the duties of consultant medical billers in this regard.
In addition, some medical billers, such as medical claims specialists, rewrite doctors' notes, which detail the treatments each patient has received, into a universally accepted medical short-script. This process is called "coding." While not all coders are medical billers, coders may work in healthcare clinics, insurance companies or research organizations, many medical billers are also familiar with coding.
Work specifics include but are not limited to:
- Protecting patient health information and to maintain highly accurate records so that insurance companies will not deny patient claims for coverage.
- Collecting and analyzing data that doctors and nurses use to treat patients, as well as maintaining current and accurate medical records.
- Locating medical codes such as CPT and ICD-9 codes, obtaining insurance referrals, processing insurance claim forms, billing third-party payers and patients, tracking insurance claims and writing appeals on claims.
- Processing billing for Medicare/Medicaid patients, resolving any prior errors and postings, reconciliation, and cleaning up accounts receivable/aging.

Medical Transcriptionists
Duties are to protect patients’ health information and to maintain highly accurate records so that insurance companies will not deny patients’ claims for coverage. As part of a team of healthcare professionals, duties may include collecting and analyzing data that physicians and nurses use to treat patients, as well as maintaining current and accurate medical records.
Work specifics include but are not limited to:
- Transcribes medical dictation from physicians and nurse practitioners using dictaphones and computer software.
- Ensures that correct format and appearance are maintained as well as the appropriate resource books.
- Proofreads all work to ensure that name, account number, patient complaints, exams, diagnosis, treatment plans, and all other necessary information is accurate; files transcription in appropriate location.
- Ensures that document screens are printed for productivity information and that final copy is posted on patient chart.
- Skill sets required:
- Excellent knowledge of medical terms in a wide range of fields, in medical specialties ranging from Orthopedics to Ophthalmology.
- Knowledge of dictating equipment, computer, and appropriate computer software, such as MS Office and creation of daily reports using MS Excel.
- Knowledge of use of standard reference books such as medical dictionaries, online support, drug dictionaries, etc.
- Excellent spelling/grammar skills.
- Ability to accurately type 60-70 words per minute.
- Ability to decipher difficult dictations.
- Medical transcriptionists are employed in physicians' offices, medical transcription services, hospitals, and some home-based offices.

LEGAL TRANSCRIPTION
Legal transcription or LT as it may be called, basically involves conversion of court proceedings, hearings, judgments and petitions into text form. The voice data is digitally converted and analyzed in the form of written reports or electronic documents. These are stored in the form of hard copy or on a disk for record and future references. The transcribed text contents are sent back to the person concerned, department, agency or firm through floppy disk, e-mail, fax or printed copies. The professionals involved in the task of transcription of legal proceedings or data are called legal transcriptionists.
Legal transcriptionists
